This replaces the usual plastic covered corners on many indoor boards. As a matter of fact, if we did use the plastic corner construction this would be an extremely weak point when it comes to water and moisture entry. Thus the use of the fully mitered corner design eliminates this weak spot completely. In addition to this design change every part of the frame, both front and rear has been carefully silicone sealed. As the frame corners are not used for wall mounting the chalkboard, the design incorporates special nylon sleeves fixed through the frame. The screw sleeves are also silicone sealed to prevent water ingress. While the default frame finish is silver anodised aluminum, other options are available. Moisture Resistant Internal structure These external chalkboards have a completely water & moisture resistant 10mm thick foam plastic core. It’s important to realise that it is not just direct water contact that can damage a conventional chalkboard. Additionally there is moisture to consider as well. Therefore this board has a true weather-proof internal construction that will not deteriorate. Conventional chalkboards have a wood based internal core, typically soft board or MDF etc. Hence this would be totally unsuitable for outdoor use because the core material would soak up moisture and water.
