This season I replaced a wonderful propane ice auger with the E-40 Electric 10 inch ice auger because I am recovering from three neck and back surgeries as a result of two rear-end automobile collisions and at 75 years old I no longer have the strength to throw around my much heavier propane auger. The light weight electric E-40 is incredibly light and easy to handle for me at around 14 lbs. The cutting power is off the charts. The blades are incredibly sharp and make quick work of cutting your holes. The E-40 is clean to operate, very quiet while cutting, and easy to carry. This was my 70th ice fishing season, so, as you might imagine, I have a good deal of experience with various pieces of equipment for cutting through the ice and the E-40 has taken this process to a new level. I should add that the battery recharges easily and quickly and that I never came close to running it down. I only tested it in -17 F temperatures, but I am sure it will run perfectly in even colder weather conditions. The E-40 is worth every penny of the cost!
